Effective date:
ChartLivePrivacy Policy.
ChartLive is developed and operated by Blakus Music Pty Ltd (“ChartLive”, “we”, “us” or “our”), based in New South Wales, Australia.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the ChartLive application, the ChartLive website, or contact us.
01ChartLive is local-first
ChartLive is designed so that your musical content is primarily stored and processed on your own device.
At the current stage of the product, ChartLive does not require a ChartLive user account and does not operate a cloud service that uploads or synchronises your song library, setlists or charts.
Content you create or import, such as songs, arrangements, setlists, musical notes, preferences and imported source material, is stored locally on your device unless you deliberately share it through a ChartLive Live session or a setlist file.
02Local network and Live sessions
ChartLive uses your local network to allow a Music Director and musicians to connect during rehearsals and live sessions.
When you join or host a Live session, ChartLive may exchange information required for that session directly between participating devices. This can include prepared chart information, musical position and playback state, session identifiers and other technical information required to establish and maintain the connection.
Live communication is designed to occur directly over the local network. ChartLive does not send your Live session content to Blakus Music servers as part of normal Live operation.
Some temporary connection information and secure session credentials may be stored on the device where necessary to support joining, reconnection and session security.
03Camera access
ChartLive may request access to your device camera so that you can scan a ChartLive invitation QR code.
Camera access is used for QR-code scanning. ChartLive does not intentionally save photographs or video captured while scanning an invitation.
You can choose not to grant camera access and use other available joining methods where supported.
04Files and imported content
If you choose to import a PDF, chart or other supported file into ChartLive, the app accesses the file you selected in order to provide that feature.
Imported content may be copied into ChartLive’s local application storage so it remains available to you. ChartLive does not automatically upload imported files to Blakus Music.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to use content you import or share through ChartLive.
Sharing a setlist. When you share a setlist, ChartLive creates a setlist file (ending in ".chartlive") on your device. The file contains the setlist's charts, arrangements, keys and tempos, the MD Notes and cues meant for everyone, and the sender name you choose to add, if any. It does not contain imported PDFs, private annotations, MD-only cues, account details or contact information. No ChartLive account is needed. ChartLive hands the file only to the app or person you choose, such as Messages, Mail, AirDrop or a file-sharing app. ChartLive does not send the file, or anything about it, to Blakus Music. The app you choose handles it under its own privacy policy.
Receiving a setlist. When you open a setlist file in ChartLive, it is checked and saved on your device under Shared with you, and stays there until you delete it. The sender's name is shown as written in the file and is not verified.
05Analytics, advertising and tracking
The current version of ChartLive does not include third-party advertising or behavioural advertising SDKs.
ChartLive does not currently use a third-party product analytics service to track how you use the app.
We do not sell personal information or use your ChartLive activity to build advertising profiles.
This may change as the product develops. If we introduce analytics, cloud services or other data-processing features in the future, this policy will be updated before those practices apply.
06TestFlight and Apple services
Pre-release versions of ChartLive may be distributed through Apple TestFlight.
When you use TestFlight, Apple may collect information such as device information, installation and usage information, crash information and feedback. Apple processes this information according to its own privacy policies and TestFlight terms.
Some diagnostic information provided to us through TestFlight may help us identify crashes or improve ChartLive.
07Feedback and support
If you contact us, send beta feedback or report a problem, we may receive information that you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, message, screenshots and technical information about the problem.
We use this information to respond to you, investigate issues and improve ChartLive.
Please avoid including private musical material, passwords, session credentials or other sensitive information in support messages unless it is genuinely necessary.
08Website and email updates
If you voluntarily subscribe to ChartLive news or product updates through chartlive.app, we collect the email address you provide for that purpose.
We may use an email-delivery service provider to send these messages. You can unsubscribe using the link included in our emails.
Signing up for email updates is optional and is separate from using the ChartLive app.
09Data retention
Musical content stored locally in ChartLive generally remains on your device until you delete it through the app or remove the app and its data.
Setlists shared with you are kept on your device until you delete them; ChartLive may suggest deleting one a week after its date.
Ephemeral Live session information is retained only as needed to operate and secure the session, subject to any local reconnection or caching behaviour provided by the app.
Information you send directly to us, such as support correspondence or feedback, may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, investigate problems, maintain appropriate business records and improve the product.
Where we hold personal information about you, you may contact us to request access, correction or deletion where applicable.
10Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information handled by ChartLive.
ChartLive’s Live functionality is designed to use secure session mechanisms for communication between participating devices. However, no software or method of electronic communication can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You should keep your device updated and protected and should only join ChartLive sessions that you trust.
11Third-party services
ChartLive relies on operating-system and distribution services provided by companies such as Apple.
Those services may process information independently under their own privacy policies.
Except as described in this policy, we do not intentionally provide your locally stored musical content to third parties.
12Children’s privacy
ChartLive is a tool for musicians and music teams and is not designed to collect personal information from children.
If you believe that personal information relating to a child has been provided directly to us inappropriately, please contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
13Changes to this policy
ChartLive is still under active development. Features such as accounts, cloud synchronisation, subscriptions or additional online services may be introduced in the future.
If our handling of information materially changes, we will update this Privacy Policy and revise the effective date above.
